Purpose
As a Climate and ESG Risk Specialist you will join the Climate, ESG and Enterprise Risk Management Business Area and will be responsible for the oversight and integration of ESG aspects to the vertical risk functions of the Bank (i.e. credit, market, liquidity, operational risk / business and strategic risk), as well as to the other lines of defense at the Bank and Group levels, ensuring the organization's comprehensive management of ESG-related risks.
What you will be doing
- Provide support in the integration of climate and ESG considerations in the Bank’s overall risk framework, working closely with other risk management teams and other business areas within the Bank and its Subsidiaries.
- Assess and analyze climate-related risks, including physical risks, and evaluate the potential impact of climate change on the Bank’s operations.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the Bank’s operational efficiency regarding Climate and ESG risks.
- Build capabilities within the Bank, regarding climate and ESG risk, by developing training programs and providing guidance to Bank employees.
- Prepare climate & ESG risk related input for supervisory exercises/ processes (e.g., ICAAP / ILAAP , CSRD, Pillar III, Stress Testing, Risk Appetite Framework statements).
- Assist in the development of assessment practices for transitional and physical risks from a second line of defense perspective.
- Conduct accuracy checks on completed questionnaires using statistical methods or by performing sample-based quality reviews.
- Prepare periodic ESG and climate risk monitoring reports.
- Stay up to date with evolving regulatory requirements as well as industry developments, ensuring that policies and guidelines for climate and ESG risks are adapted accordingly.
- Identify areas for improvement in Climate and ESG processes and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies.
What you need to have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, Risk Management, Accounting, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Environmental studies or any other related field.
- A Master’s degree in any related field will be considered an asset.
- At least three (3) years of related work experience in a relevant position in banking and/or in the consulting field in risk management.
- Knowledge of current ESG regulations including EU SFDR, Taxonomy, CSRD and TCFD requirements.
- Experience in/familiarity with reporting (e.g. reporting to internal management bodies, to the EBA/ECB/BoG etc.).
- Ability to maintain relationships with internal and external Stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken).
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and of MS Teams.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
