Purpose
Alpha Bank is currently seeking a Research Economist to join the Economic Research team. The Economic Research Business Area is responsible for the monitoring and the analysis of local and overseas developments in the macroeconomic field. It provides conceptual and economic forecasting for a series of financial elements and indicators and prepares advanced economic reporting, articles and Press Releases for the Alpha Bank Group.
The ideal candidate should possess analytical thinking and attention to detail, while also exhibiting excellent communication and collaboration skills with both internal and external stakeholders. The position involves frequent interaction with business and operational Units across the Bank and the Group.
What you will be doing
- Conduct thorough, primary research on economic issues and disseminate the research findings through reports
- Monitor economic and policy developments of the Greek and global economy and prepare presentations and reports
- Work closely with and support other business areas of the Bank, as required, through provision of economic and financial data, briefs and reports
- Perform and develop econometric models and forecasts using specific software applications
- Formulate recommendations and policies to address/forecast/interpret macroeconomic and financial market trends
What you need to have
- A PhD in Economics/Finance/Econometrics or an MSc in Economics/Finance with a minimum of three (3) to six (6) years of relevant professional experience, in positions associated with economic / empirical research
- Strong quantitative modeling and econometric skills, complemented by solid expertise in statistical software are considered a plus
- Advanced use of the MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and solid financial modeling skills
- Strong attention to detail with a penchant for efficiency and a drive to achieve results
- Proven written and verbal communication skills to convey complex subject matter to internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken)
