Purpose
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Internal Auditor to join our Internal Audit business area, specifically within the Risk, Credit and Wholesale Banking process audits team, with a key focus on Credit Risk and Factoring products. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Alpha Bank Group’s governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
As part of our mandate, Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations. We adopt a consistent, risk-based, and systematic audit approach aligned with regulatory expectations, the legal framework, and industry best practices.
What you will be doing
In this role, you will engage frequently with business and functional units across the Bank and the wider Group, providing valuable insights and challenging the effectiveness of operational risk management processes.
We are looking for a candidate with a solid background in internal audit and/or credit risk, combined with strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive mindset. A demonstrated ability to quickly understand complex processes and contribute effectively to team and organizational objectives is essential.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Participate in risk-based audits on credit lending, credit decisioning, credit risk management for wholesale lending products including factoring and other relevant business processes in order to assess the internal control system, the effectiveness and efficiency of processes.
- Review, evaluate the design and test the operational effectiveness of internal controls in place.
- Liaise with stakeholders and build relationships to support the audit engagement and continuous monitoring process.
- Prepare audit reports that are clear, accurate and provide an independent evaluation on related risks and controls.
- Participate in audit recommendations’ implementation follow-up process.
- Participate in audit universe risk assessment and audit plan development process.
- Stay abreast of new audit developments and apply international practices and standards (IIA etc.).
What you need to have
- A Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field. Professional qualifications (e.g. CIA, ACCA, FRM, CFA, Bank of Greece certifications) are desirable.
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years in Internal Audit within a financial institution relevant to credit lending, credit risk, factoring products and services. Relevant Audit experience in other areas such as accounting and finance, operations, non-financial risks or KYC/AML will be considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of relevant banking regulations (e.g. BoG, CRR, EBA / ECB guidelines, Mifid II).
- Good knowledge of factoring products.
- Proficiency in internal controls evaluation, very good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong hands-on attitude.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Excellent use of MS Office.
- Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken).
