Purpose

 

As a Retail Banking Lending Senior Lawyer in Alpha Bank’s Legal Division, you will focus on Retail Financing legal matters and play a key role in supporting the Bank’s retail lending activities. You will work closely with internal teams to ensure that all retail financing agreements, contracts, and terms and conditions are legally sound and aligned with regulatory requirements. Your expertise will help mitigate legal risks while contributing to the Bank’s operational and digital transformation journey. You will bring strong legal knowledge, a solution-oriented mindset, and a proactive approach to anticipating and resolving issues before they arise.

What you will be doing

 

  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance across the full spectrum of retail financing products and services
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documentation, including terms and conditions, lending contracts, consumer and mortgage loan agreements, credit card agreements, and cooperation agreements with third parties
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across retail financing activities, ensuring compliance with applicable frameworks
  • Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory changes affecting consumers and small businesses, with emphasis on consumer protection provisions
  • Support the design, development, and introduction of new retail financing products and services, ensuring alignment with legal requirements
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external legal counsels, and regulatory authorities to address legal matters and resolve complex issues
  • Handle customer complaints and disputes related to retail financing, providing timely and accurate legal responses

 

 

What you need to have

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Law and A Master’s degree in Civil or Commercial Law (highly desirable)
  • Membership of a Bar Association
  • At least ten (10) years of relevant professional experience, gained either in-house or with a leading law firm
  • Strong understanding of banking and finance law, including regulatory and compliance requirements, with familiarity in consumer protection frameworks considered an advantage
  • Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal agreements, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues, assess risks, and propose practical, business-oriented solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers, combined with fluency in both Greek and English (written and spoken)
  • A collaborative, proactive, and business-minded approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
