Purpose

As an Application Specialist within the IT Core Banking Services Division, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining Alpha Bank’s core back-office payments systems, contributing across the software development lifecycle and ensuring the effective delivery of payment-related services and solutions.

What you will be doing

  • Address Demand and Incident Management backlog related to Credit Transfers and Payments.
  • Support data extraction requests and ad hoc reporting requirements related to internal and external regulatory needs.
  • Analyze business and functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Contribute to all phases of application testing, including Unit, Integration, UAT, Regression and Stress Testing.
  • Participate in Release Management activities.
  • Cooperate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. DIAS ACH, Bank of Greece and Public Sector entities) on projects related to the payments area.
  • Participate in technical project teams, contributing to effort and budget estimations, collaborating with Project Managers and supporting the delivery of agreed domain objectives.

What you need to have

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English.
  • 1–4 years of relevant experience in software development and collaboration with software development teams.
  • Hands-on experience with VB.NET (.NET Framework, Visual Studio), COM+/WCF Services, Windows OS environments and the design and delivery of web services/APIs (e.g. RESTful, WCF, WebAPI).
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Database, database design, optimized SQL queries and XML/XSD.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD practices, SOA architecture, Microservices and API design patterns.
  • Knowledge of Banking Payment Products and Services, including SWIFT Standards and Messages Flow, SEPA Schemes (SEPA Credit Transfer, SEPA Direct Debit, SEPA Instant Payments) and ISO 20022 payment and cash management standards.
  • Knowledge of Java Enterprise Edition principles and experience in the development of Java EE applications will be considered an asset.
